Dr. Sonya Blizzard is originally from Nanuet, New York and is a graduate of Columbia University and received her medical school degree from Yale University. She then went on to do her ophthalmology training at Johns Hopkins University and completed her fellowship in Pediatric Ophthalmology and Adult Strabismus at the Duke Eye Center.

She is a member of the American Association of Pediatric Ophthalmology and Strabismus and the American Academy of Ophthalmology. She has published in several well known journals including Investigative Ophthalmology and Visual Science, Journal of Vision, Ophthalmology Glaucoma and the Journal of Neuro-ophthalmology. She met her husband Daniel Blizzard in medical school and they were thrilled to move back to the Inland Northwest where he grew up. She enjoys spending time outdoors with her husband and two children and their Alaskan Malamute, Koda.
